Optional analytics privacy

Product access is identical whether you grant or decline optional analytics.

Before you choose

Public and declined activity uses cookieless aggregate PostHog analytics. It does not create a PostHog person, identify your account, or store a persistent PostHog browser identity. Autocapture, heatmaps, and session replay are disabled.

If you grant permission

PostHog Cloud EU may connect acquisition channel, feature usage, performance, AI usage, and AI cost to your stable account identifier. We do not use your email as the analytics identity. Activity collected before permission is not merged into the identified profile.

First-touch attribution

A candidate containing allowlisted campaign fields, landing path, sanitized referrer, and capture time may stay in this tab's session storage for up to 24 hours. It is deleted after your choice or when it expires. On permission, the first valid touch becomes immutable. On decline, attribution is recorded as unavailable due to consent.

Changing your choice

You can change this setting later in Project settings. Withdrawal immediately resets the browser identity, returns analytics to cookieless aggregate mode, and records a request to delete or de-identify the PostHog person.
